Increase in the U.S prison population since 1980’s due to changes in sentencing laws and policies, even though evidence shows mass incarceration does not meaningfully improve public safety.

After assessing your fit through the Applicant Readiness Tool, you must register for the Justice Innovation Prize by Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
From June-August 2023, valid applications will be scored by five fellow applicants, then a subset of top-scoring submissions will be scored by five Evaluation Panel judges. Scores are normalized to ensure fairness.
Informed by Evaluation Panel results, we review top-scoring submissions to select up to five Finalists who will receive $50,000 each to strengthen their proposals and prepare for an in-person pitch event at SOCAP23.
At SOCAP23 on October 24, 2023, Finalists will present their ideas to the Selection Committee, who will recommend up to three awardees to each receive a $250,000 Justice Innovation Prize.
